§ 12.08.020. Sidewalk construction.

Latest version.
  • A.

Whenever a new street is constructed or a present street is reconstructed and a curb and gutter is put in, sidewalks will be put in on both sides of the street to the last property owner's lot (exact end of the sidewalk to be determined by common council) unless the common council declares it to be unreasonable or unnecessary for sidewalk to be placed in a specific area. The cost of any new sidewalk will be the responsibility of the abutting property owner. Maintenance of sidewalks is the responsibility of property owner (see sidewalk repair policy).

    B.

Section 66.0907 (Sidewalks), Wisconsin Statutes, as subsequently amended is adopted by reference as if fully set forth in this chapter. All new sidewalks shall be five feet in width unless otherwise provided by the common council. New sidewalk construction shall include aprons adjoining the sidewalk and curb/gutter and be in conformance with the city specifications on file in the department of public works.
